According to the Randall-Selitto method, drugs were added to inflammatory feet in small experimental animals. The Randall-Selitto pain meter has a pressure sensor and displays the measurement parameters in real time through the LCD screen. The pressure applicator has a flexible pointed probe at one end and a flat end at the other end. During use, place the animal's foot in the middle of the pressure applicator, align the probe and apply pressure. Gradually increase the mechanical pressure on the animal's paw to approach the animal's pain threshold. When the animal has a withdrawal reaction, the instrument automatically measures and records the maximum pressure signal, in g.

Unlike thermal pain, this instrument is used for pain measurement of mechanical tenderness and dull pain.
